What ever happened to good old-fashioned romance? Oysters and champagne are passé as people reach for more exotic aphrodisiacs. While I consider myself to have a "normal" sex drive before taking this medication (which is used to quit smoking, in my case), I can say without a doubt, that it increased my sex drive by 10-fold.

In hot pursuit of aphrodisiacs

A couple years back, I didn't even have the desire to take the aphrodisiacs, so I'd have the desire. Then my best girlfriend started mixing the Wellburtin SE into my oatmeal in the mornings, not telling me of course, and that made all the difference in the world. I'm not on the same page with Mr. Leyner, but I'm getting there.

In hot pursuit of aphrodisiacs

Re: "In hot pursuit of aphrodisiacs"

Thanks for this informative (and amusing) article!

I've been following the progress of PT-141/Bremelanotide on news sites, press releases, the 'Bremelanotide Bulletin', etc, and was disappointed when they decided to cease development of that drug for treating sexual arousal disorders in men and women.

However, as you stated, there is hope that their NEW drug PL-6983 will be developed successfully and will be available to purchase or have prescribed. *fingers crossed*

And, to answer your question, Bremelanotide WOULD have been my favorite 'aphrodisiac' if I could get it... but my next best choice would be basic alcohol. :)
In hot pursuit of aphrodisiacs

I believe for men there is plenty of sex drive, just that we have a hard time performing (I'm 46) to the level that our desires want. That is what the herbal medicines are for- like ginseng, euleuthero, Schizandra, Horny Goat Weed. Some of them have been proven to release nitric oxide. Others like Horny Goat Weed have a mechanism identical to Viagra.

In hot pursuit of aphrodisiacs

Although i do not use anymore, havent in years. Crystal Meth is a powerful, all comsuming sexual drug. I am male and was 35 years when I started playing with this drug, there has been nothing since to compare to it. I still miss its effects to this day but choose not to take it anymore. For me it was a part time drug that I did a few times a year only in small amounts and only for sex. If only they can tap into what it does to your brain and synth that material only. withought the harmful stuff.

In hot pursuit of aphrodisiacs

I have also noticed an effect from taking Wellbutrin (for depression), although I feel that the change has simply reverted to my "normal" sex drive, that had been dampened by the depression.

In hot pursuit of aphrodisiacs

Pardon me if this sounds ignorant, but regarding the shelved PT-141, canceled because along with increased arousal, there is increased blood pressure: I want to respond with "duh". Aren't those two reactions connected naturally? If so, it would follow that it would have to happen with a medication, too.

In hot pursuit of aphrodisiacs

P Duncan, I'm not sure how the blood pressure issue comes into play. I do know that Viagara and Cialis list a sudden DROP in blood pressure as a possible serious side effect. I can only assume that means that so much blood is being pumped south of the border that none is going anywhere else in the body! You know, your heart stops beating but your erection lasts four hours. Isn't modern medicine grand?

In hot pursuit of aphrodisiacs

I would love to find an aphrodisiacs for my boyfriend so he would think about sex "10 trillion times a day". I have read at http://www.aphrodisiacsrhot.com about a variety of different ones. Some I don't really know what is it. Like, they talk about Spanish Fly. Do you know what is it? But they do work, even very simple ones, like wine, chocolate and other sensual food. They elevate your mood and make you a lot more open to romance. At least in my experience.
