Megan Fox is hot. It's just true. But sometimes, it's kind of fun to take down the prettiest girl in school. Turns out the 24-year-old actress, who is year after year among Maxim's Sexiest Women Alive, actually does have a physical flaw – her thumbs look like two big toes.
The scientific name for stump thumb is Brachydactyly type D, but the condition is also called club thumb, stub thumb, fat thumb, potter's thumb and toe thumb. It's also known as "murderer's thumb," a moniker once used by gypsy fortune tellers.
Whatever you call it, club thumbs are an inherited trait, and the condition is fairly common – up to 4 percent of the population is estimated to have a stubby thumb. But Fox might be a little sensitive about the whole thing; in a Motorola ad that aired during the Super Bowl this year, she's said to have used a thumb double.

No need to be ashamed, dear. People like your thumbs! No, really, they do – more than 1,000 people "like" Megan Fox's thumbs on Facebook. And for the toe-thumbed among us who aren't celebrities, don't worry – Facebook's got you covered, too. A group called BRACHYDACTYLY Type D has more than 900 members, each of them proudly giving the condition a stumpy thumbs up. The page's wall is covered with notes like "BDDs unite!" and "I finally feel like I belong !!:)" Some seem to use the page to alert the group to other toe-thumbs out there; a woman named Sue Brown helpfully notes:
"Hey, try to catch the CHEEZ_IT cracker commercial where the researcher is trying to determine if the block of cheese is mature enough. he is checking off on a clip board whether or not the cheese is ready and his left thumb holding the clip board is definitely a BRACH-D thumb :)"

I have the same thumbs, and it was a huge source of embarrassment to me as a teen. As a woman, they don't bother me as much, but, still, the memories of having other kids call me "deformed" remain.

I have the same thumb she does(only on one hand) and I think its extremely tacky of MSNBC to poke fun and say she has a "toe" on her hand! It's a genetic thing and typically due to heritage. My Great Grandmother was from Greece and the thumbs run in our family. My Mother has them, My aunt has them and probably more of my relatives. Don't you people have other things to write about other than a beautiful girls shape of her thumbs?! She shouldn't have to put up with your immature, illiterate comments!
I agree 10,000%. Don't we have enough going on without mocking a beautiful woman for having a thumb that's a little "different"? I mean really? Talk about blowing someone's candle out to make yours burn brighter. How sad and pathetic that someone feels the need to be mocking. I'm sorry but what does Greece have to do with this? My Grandfather was from Greece, he didn't move to the US until he was 19. He didn't have this condition, nor my mother, nor I.... and we both most definitely look Greek. I also have many Greek relatives who don't have it either.

tuffigirl....I was unaware that you have actually MET Megan Fox and know what her IQ is. Or is it possible that you're just jealous? And YES, Doctors HAVE told me that it does have to do with what nationality you are. This is more prevalent in Greece and Syria. Good for you that your family is from Greece and they don't have this.

Dear Stupid People,
This was not a breaking news article, but an entertainment news article. It is still a news article. People are allowed to do things simply to entertain or to slake curiosity. It is part of what makes us human. I think the point of this article was not to tear Megan Fox down, but to make it clear to anyone interested that no, she does not have toes for thumbs but instead has a very normal physical condition. If anyone cared to stop and think they would notice that just as much of the article is dedicated to discussing BDD as it is to Megan Fox, perhaps more. It is an entertainment article on a site called Body Odd. I wonder if they discuss odd things about the human body, such as oddly shaped thumbs... No, no, that is just stupid. I apologize for having such a ridiculous thought as that.
